Having a good fundamental base is a crucial part of any basketball player’s game. Perfecting your skills, both basketball and physical, is the only way you can continuously advance and improve. The fundamentals must be constantly monitored and maintained, the more attention they get the easier it is to implement new moves and techniques to your game.

At IBSA Academy we strive to teach basketball fundamentals in a clear, intense and effective way. By cutting out the fluff of the game, we’re able to dive straight into the most important skills in order to help each player achieve their goals.

IBSA Academy work is divided into two parts, each part professionally designed to help each player maximize their full potential:

The first part is the concentration on fundamental skill work. Every session is intense and focused, starting from ground zero, we will teach young players all the skills needed to succeed on the basketball court. Through patience and practice and repetition, athletes will improve:

  • Dribbling
  • Shooting
  • Passing
  • Movement without the ball
  • Defense

The second part is concentration on the athletic ability of each player. Through IBSA physical development program athletes will receive detailed instruction on how to improve:

  • Speed
  • Quickness & Agility
  • Strength
  • Explosiveness
  • Conditioning

These qualities are paramount in any players development: by increasing athletic ability, it allows for a bigger window of improvement when practicing fundamental skills. We focus on these qualities on a weekly basis to help establish and maintain this window of improvement.

If you are looking for a development program and an opportunity to learn basketball in a proper way, IBSA Academy is the right place for you. Only through continues training throughout the year players will improve basketball skills as well as other areas needed to succeed in the game.

International Basketball & Sports Academy offers a variety of programs through individual, private lessons. Specific individual training is essential for athletes whose goal is to play at the collegiate level in Canada or U.S.A, and especially for those who have a dream of becoming a professional basketball player. Having played at the NCAA level, NBA, and many European leagues, IBSA coaches have the knowledge and experience to elevate each athlete’s game and give them the tools needed to fulfill their potential.

The athlete’s physical development is connected with their fundamental skill training. Each program is uniquely designed to help each athlete fix their weaknesses and maintain their strengths. IBSA’s basketball program covers all aspects of the game, paying close attention to the details that will make a huge difference on the court. Individual training is rigorous, it makes the athlete jump to new levels of intensity and teaches them the level of commitment required to achieve their goals. In the course of IBSA’s individual basketball training, developmental athletes will become complete players with a high level of:

  • Basketball Intelligence
  • Decision Making
  • Movement Without the Ball
  • Dribbling
  • Shooting
  • Passing
  • Hand-Eye Coordination
  • Confidence and Mental Toughness
  • Defensive Technique

IBSA individual programs are professionally designed, not only to improve basketball skill, but to raise the physical ability of each player. Modern basketball training, as with the development of any higher level athletic skills, requires methods that incorporate fitness and sport-specific skills into each element of training. IBSA individual programs use a wide range of training techniques such as:

  • Agility Ladder
  • Hurdles
  • Box Jumping
  • Plyometric Training
  • Weight Lifting
  • Speed and Agility Training

Mastery of these different techniques represents the core work for any basketball player who wants to compete at a higher level. They carry the same level of importance as shooting, dribbling, passing, and other basketball skills. Through these programs athletes will see significant improvement in:

  • Quickness
  • Lateral Mobility
  • Speed and Agility
  • Balance and Flexibility
  • Jumping Ability
  • Physical Strength
  • Coordination

All athletes interested in individual training must attend at least one IBSA Academy group session in order to be properly assesed before an individual program can be designed.

International Basketball & Sports Academy is first and foremost a basketball school. Our primary focus is to develop young players by building a strong fundamental base in each athlete. Fundamental work is the corner stone of IBSA training. All young players, regardless of what Rep/Club team they belong to, are welcome in our Academy.

Many of our current members belong to different Rep/Club teams and this gives them the opportunity to use the skills that they learn here to elevate their game when playing for their respective teams.

IBSA Basketball training will be of great benefit for all the Rep/Club teams and coaches. Being involved in games and tournaments, most coaches do not have the time required to develop quality fundamental skills for their players. In many cases, coaches are volunteers who love the game, but lack knowledge and experience to teach all the aspects needed to be successful in a basketball world. For this reason, IBSA Basketball is looking to help each coach who is interested in improving his player’s basketball, physical and mental ability. Having their players attend IBSA, coaches can expect improvement not just in the skill of their players, but in other areas that are crucial to team success such as:

  • Discipline
  • Mental Toughness
  • Positive Attitude
  • Hard Work
  • Aggressiveness
  • Teamwork
  • Winning Attitude

More fundamentally sound, mentally tougher and disciplined players will automatically raise the quality of basketball in Rep/Club team games and tournaments. It will increase each team’s chances to perform at their desired level, and reach their goal.

IBSA Basketball invites all the Rep/Club team owners and coaches to contact us, if interested, and discuss all the details and training schedules for their players.

High school is the most important phase for young players who have the ambition of playing at the University and the professional level. This is the time where each athlete needs to master the fundamentals in order to reach their full potential. Making the next step is not easy. In the past, there have been many good high school basketball players who could not make it at the University level, or could not even earn a basketball scholarship.

At the University level players are more athletic, skillful and competition is fierce. The game is physical and faster. Coaches are more demanding. If players are not fundamentally sound, physically fit and strong, mentally tough and confident, they will not make it. They will not be able to perform well without the necessary tools to do so.

IBSA Basketball coaches Zelimir Stevanovic and Barry Mungar, both played NCAA basketball in the U.S.A. They know exactly what is needed to play and be successful at the University level. Through extensive training in our Academy, high school players will improve their chances of making it to the next level. Only through hard work on speed, jumping, lateral movement, dribbling, shooting, passing and many other aspects of the game, players will be able to put themselves in a position to play in University.

Playing in numerous games and tournaments is simply not enough. Players have to put in consistent effort on their fundamental work, correcting bad habits, and learning new ones, which will help them in the future. By attending our academy, high school players will have a chance to train with former professional basketball players, who have both knowledge and experience to take each young athlete on the road to success.
